USACE, Savannah District

Removal of two 4,000 gallon active USTs, and two 4,000 gallon inactive USTs including removal of approximately 800 feet long product lines. Additional work include soil sampling/analyses and excavation of up to 100 tons of petroleum contaminated soils. A UST Closure report was submitted in accordance with the GAEPD requirements.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, North Carolina

Contract was for the 10 year API-653 inspection of (1) 80,000 #6 Oil Tank that is 40 feet high and 59 feet in diameter. The inspection consisted of both an internal and external non-destructive testing (NDT) protocols inspection. The internal inspection was performed with a robotic in-tank sensor without the need for product removal, while external testing was performed by a combination of Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) meters and visual checks. Additionally, (5) horizontal aboveground storage tanks containing various heated oils were also testing using Steel Tank Institute (STI SP001) guidelines. The tanks ranged in size from 30,000 gallon down to 12,000 gallon in size. All of the tanks had an outer fiberglass insulation wrap that needed to be removed at certain areas for accessing the tank shell. The tanks wall thicknesses were tested with a (NDT) devise and all other mounts, saddles, nozzles, flanges, etc. had a visual inspection performed.
